I lay in bed at night your sweatshirt against my cheek
The sheets fall off my feet and I can
almost taste whispers of you on my pillow
But i shake and i shake
In the morning i walk outside and scream
A cloud devours me
i watch the people beneath me
Swirling beneath my shade
And i boom and bellow
Youre going to be okay they say
Youre going to be alright, you might
They stand in the warm rain
Look into the sun and dance
But my feet freeze
And you tear your way into my dreams
I wake up in a cold heat
And i shake and i shake
In the morning i walk outside and scream

I went to the beach today
To see if i could drown
But try as i may i realized i just dont know how
As i stood there in the water
I saw darkness beneath me
and tread as fast as i could -
I looked again and stood as still as can be
Only to realize it was my shadow laughing at me
I remember when we sat there on the sand
And i thought it doesnt get much better than this
But now the sands in my eyes and my mouth and my lungs
And i wish you would tell me how to be
And I went to the beach today
To see if i could drown
But try as i may i realized i dont know how

for there she was

today at work an old man winked at me
And i think its pretty lucky theres someone i see
i dropped all the dishes and knelt in the shards
I looked in a broken plate
And saw spirals whirl in my eyes
i hope the eclipse will turn me blind
So maybe i can see myself again
And what i would do
To hear you say i love you
And what i would do
To just be
But flowers wont buy time
And the sun wont shine
i cant see myself anywhere
Because everything reminds me of you
i stare at the door and wait
for you to come ask me if youve mastered winking yet
And for there she was, i would say
For there she was
